DTMF Tones over IP Phones

I have a site that is using 4620/4610 IP phones to communicate with a Modular Messaging system. However, once a call has been made between the phones and the messaging system DTMF tones cannot be generated by the IP telephone caller.

Through experimentation I have found that DTMF tones are sent appropriately from DCP to DCP phones. DTMF tones are also sent appropriately from a DCP phone to an IP endpoint. However, only when accessing outside trunks are DTMF tones sent by IP phones.

I have looked and experimented with the system-parameters ip-options screen's IP DTMF Transmission Mode without success. Has anyone had this happen with their systems before and do you have a solution? Thanks in advance.

set "ip dtmf transmission mode" to out-of-band, and if your messaging system is using ip trunks, check "dtmf over ip" setting on the signaling group page 1, set it also to out-of-band. should work. if you're using t1s or analog it should work fine any way.

I have asked it before several times because I think it is bug in the S8500 or R12 software. That is not only motivated by this kind of phones because it is extended to every ip phones.
I have done several tryes without success but this morning I gonna try to connect a CLAN, Medpro and a Ip phone in a hub and I will see. The idea is isolate the plataform checking a probable fault in the switch CISCO which could not send the DTMF tones.
I know that it is a general problem but I still don´t know the solution. ASAP I will post you the solution.

I am working with DS1s trunks, not with Ip Trunks and the system can not send DTMF tones in outgoing calls.

what software release do you have? mine cm2.0.1 works just fine.

That is exactly my communication manager release. The system is a S8500.

sounds like test 146 (on the ds1 board) is active.

If you disable test 146 and reset the ds1 board your DTMF tones should work on outgoing calls.

I will try it.
Made the proof it is not a Swith problem because the phone does not show the DTMF tones even connected the CLAN,MEDPRO and Phone in a isolated hub.
So is something strange in the S8500 system or general to the R12 software.

Hi,
I just resolved the problem last week on my S8700. R12
the bug should come from DS1 card.
So you have to the following commands:
Warning : this command cut all current communication on related DS1. For example i consider one of your ds1 board
(pri access board) is 01a02
- busyout board 01a02
- change ds1 01a02
- in field Connect : you should have 'pbx', replace with 'network'. En type f3 (enter)
- once again change ds1 01a02
- replace 'network' by 'Pbx'
- release board 01a02.
if you want to test on one DS1, remove one trunk from your group and create a specific trunk gr with thi trunk and place a call with the tac code assigned for this new trunk grôup
