I've had a Partner ACS (don't know revision right now) installed in my home for years. Added U-verse triple-play bundle with VoIP and now when I pick up handset to dial from any of the 18D phones on the system it does not break dial tone. If it does break tone it dials invalid number (get fast busy). I can connect the incoming line from the VoIP router directly into a standard analog phone and dial with no problems. I can even connect the analog phone to one of the ports on the Partner system and it will dial fine.

Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Well, in order to check this you need some test equipment: buttset and a transmission test set. You need to measure the DTMF tones for level and frequency from the ACS with the 18Ds verses the single line set. Unless after measuring the results are obvious. Is the Uverse router one made by 2Wire or someone else?

This Uverse crap is not the same as real phone lines on copper...

The U-verse router's SSID is "2wire" but the manufacturer tag says Pace.

I don't have access to measurement equipment but let's assume the DTMF tone/freq. is off. Is there an adjustment in the phone or is there another phone we can buy for the Partner ACS system that will provide the correct DTMF? I am assuming since an analog set connected to the system port works the 18D's provide DTMF.

The analog set's DTMF is passed directly to the outside phone line, while the buttons on the Partner multiline phone activate DTMF senders in the processor or expansion card.

If you have expansion cards, experiment by moving the line to a CO port on a different card, assigning the line to a set, and seeing if that one will break dial tone. If so, you can remove the existing lines and reassign the new ones on the same buttons, so that your phones look the same as before, but are actually accessing different CO lines.

I do have some expansion cards. This week I will work on assigning one of the CO ports on the expansion cards to a phone and moving the line from the U-verse router to that port to see if it resolves the problem. Thanks for the information and your post.

That did the trick. By moving the lines from the processor card to the 308EC cards I am now able to dial out and use the phone system again.

Thanks again to TouchToneTommy for his advise and help.
