Hi Guys & Gals

Two unrelated questions about DTMF on an ATA connected to a MICS DR5 with DS:

1) When calling internally from a normal extention to an ATA extention, it seems impossible to send DMTF tones without using feature 808. Do you know any way to fix this so it is not necessary to use Feature 808 each time? We need to control an analog device connected to the ATA using DTMF, and it is a pain to dial feature-808 after each internal call.

2) Is there any way to set up DTMF "Call Progress Signals" on an ATA? We need the device on the ATA to get a DTMF signal when the caller disconnects. On many analog PBXs, such as panasonic, you can setup an extention as a VoiceMail extention and tell the PBX to send DTMF signals to that extention to tell the connected device what is happening. Any way to do this on the MICS with an ATA?

Thanks
Ron

You could try VMI units instead of ATA's. These are used to interface Norstars with third party voice mails.

Thanks, that does sound like it might help.
Can anybody verify if the VMI will send DTMF tones on a caller disconnect?

Thanks again
Ron

Yes.
Attach VMI. Press Feature 9*3 - (to find codes assigned to VMI)
Press F9XX - (XX = code assigned)
Press NEXT until display shows "Feature table"
Press SHOW - the display will show "Send Msg L*1"
Press NEXT until display shows "Discon"
Press CHANGE
-Enter desired tones-
Press NEXT
