We are facing a strange issue today, when we call some other company numbers the call is answered by the PBX over there, when we enter any dtmf it is not being detected, this was working fine yesterday
for some numbers its working fine, there in no dtmf isse when we call our on IVR.

Avaya CM Rel 6.0.1.
Avaya G450 gateway.
ISDN Trunk.
Avaya MM 710 crads.

Read somewhere that busyout/release DS1 card will solve the issue..how can i do that ?

iam happy i am here...

do a list con all and find out the cabinet carrier slot number example 001v2

then busy board 001v2

release board 001v2

But it would be useful to see a list trace station of when this fails

Turn on slip detection example change ds1 001v2 turn on slip detection

and try

list measurements summary ds1 summary 001v2 , this will show any errors but DTMF also can be picked up in

test board 001v2(this will provide codes you will need to interprate with the manual do this when the board is live and busied to compare pass and fail)

Also status the trunk group the ds1 is assosiated with in case you have a problematic channel.

thanks for the excellent info, will a reboot of the media gateways solve the issue?

That`s a very ambiguous question..... reason being this could be many things ,first thing check alarms , errors & events in cm , and check your gateway for faults , also view the logs on the gateway may tell you if dsp cores have failed.

Then if you find nothing there you need to trace the call to try and identify if you can visually see any issues on the list trace , at the same time i would status the station you are tracing (so for this you are going to need putty or similar or ASA set up on ports 5022&5023 to allow you to have two sat sessions open.

You then need to compare and contrast the data you see on the list trace and status station and see what the station is actually doing.

Also you need to ensure your gateways are measured so if you list measurments etc etc you can check for packet loss jitter all sorts of usefull stuff.

From there if you cant identify any issues or dont feel you can read the trace post it up here and im sure some kind hearted soules will have a look ....... in answer to your question will a reboot fix it ....who knows maybe it will maybe it wont ..... but you need to atleast try to get to why or what is the cause before a reboot in my opinion.... but a reboot wont hurt.
