I am having an unusual problem on an IPO 500v2 9.0 with 1 16 port DS expansion. I am using 5410 digital sets and most not al but most have distorted DTMF when dialing. Calls always go through internally and externally but the tones are distorted and also very low. I have this problem with the control unit and the expansion unit.

Any suggestions?

If you are talking about what you hear on the phone that's not real DTMF anyway. The system does that to give you a warm fuzzy feeling. If you haven't upgraded to the last version of 9.0 that may be part of it. If the calls are going through ... what does it matter?

The users are complaining that it is contusing to them and they are making mistakes when dialing digits because they are use to hearing the tones. The office manager wants me to get it fixed because the staff has been complaining to her so I don;t have much choice.

If you haven't upgraded to 9.0.12 I would start there. Otherwise you're probably screwed. I have never found a setting for adjusting DTMF except for on analog line output. I shutter to think what the would do with an old Nortel system that just used monotone key press for dialing.

Unfortunately the only influence you can have on DTMF is through the 46xx settings file as below , as it points out this is for SIP sets (just letting you know for future ref) , so i would say you need to narrow this down further , you say only certain sets so can you narrow it down to specific ports on the DS module , is the issue actually external and internal calls ...if so again this would point to intrinsic hardware issues on the IPO , as suggested get the unit on the latest firmware , have you upgraded the unit and ds modules from older firmware levels ... if so roll it back to see if the issue follows firmware or hardware , have you got other DS units , if you have swap the expansion port location on the back of the IPO ..see again does it follow the hardware or is the swapped module now having the issue and the other module is ok.

Lots to go off there ...essentially narrow it down as far as you can and come back to us.

## The default value is -12dBm.
## This parameter is supported on 96xx telephones.
## Note : This setting is applicable for 1603 SIP phones also.
## SET INGRESS_DTMF_VOL_LEVEL -12

## CURRENT_CONTENT specifies the URL of an XML file that is used to customize the home screen.
## The default value of the parameter is null.
## This parameter is supported by 96x0 SIP R2.2 and later software releases.

Not that they mean a thing anymore , get a brain dump pass the test crash the system.

5410 are digital sets. They don't use the 46xx file.

Have to be blunt here
The users are idiots if they complain that the DTMF signals are off.
I bet they would not know the difference between a 2 and a 5 if their live depended on it.

5410 phones on R9.0 are both not new so did you just sell them the phones and install it for them on a fresh IP Office or do they have it for a while already? Just being curious.

My 5410 sounds OK on R9.1 system here so maybe you need to upgrade them. Also make sure that the 5410 is not R2.0 firmware.
