we have an issue with getting dterm ip to work- WE tested within the PBX (we plug the card and phones in to the hub card inside the PBX- things work fine )
But does anyone know if there is an option code of the phone,
We have Cisco phones that have an option code 150 for example that so when the DHCP server sees it , it knows to send the phone to the correct TFTP server

Does the NEC phones have the same ??

iS THERE is anything we could add the DHCP scope that would tell the phone where to go.. Some option..

Does the phone do anything when you connect it to a network switch? is there any kind of display?

to get to the IP setup menu dial Hold Transfer * #. This will give you the IP menu options. Option 2 (DRS) should be set to the same IP as your PBX CPU.

The phones work when its plugged into the hub card in the pbx - Using the steps you have outlined
But these would be both on the same network .
I was hoping the NEC would act like the Cisco phone- where you program in the MAC and features of the phones , then plug the phone into a network with the correct vlan \
The cisco phone sends out an DHCP scope of 150- we can then route any phone to the correct TFTP Server.
It maybe where cisco owns most of the network and can control the gear then NEC ?

If you are installing 200 phones it would be time consuming to touch each one

What type of Dterm phones. The type determins what options you need to set in the DHCP Scope.

Just to add the PBX information
2400 IPX R24

We are using ITR16-D PHONES
The scope is sent by the device the Network will know where to send that device based on thew DHCP scope

DHCP options have the same format as the BOOTP 'vendor extensions'. Options may be fixed length or variable length. All options begin with a tag byte, which uniquely identifies the option. Fixed length options without data consist of only a tag byte. The value of the length byte does not include the tag and length fields.

This is how it is done, you need to have the software. If you have a tech ID you can download it from the website.
These notes are from page one of the document.
1. Configure a file for the Dterm IP settings(via APL Config Tool), and load the file to a FTP Server. Verify
the IP Dterm is powered up and connected to the netwrok.
2. The DtermIP will acquire the FTP Server address and the Config file name from the DHCP Server.
3. The DtermIP will now access the FTP Server and download the Config file specified by the DHCP server.
4. The downloaded config data will be saved when the DtermIP is reset. This configuration will overwrite
any previous configuration settings.

Hi 3racefan

Hi,

here are Infos about IP Phones on SV8100. I dont know it´s the same on your TK System:

- new Vendor Class "NECDT700"
- OptionCode 141 FTP Server, 151 Auto Config file Name (xxx.gz), 163 DL Protokol (0x1 for FTP)

The AutoConfig File can great with the IP PhoneManager Tool

with the IP PhoneManager Tool you can make all the Settings like on the phone and store in the AutoConfig File aka PnP ;-)
