Hi I followed these instructions a few times I found on of the posts but I still could not get the password to default bacl. After I enter the MAC ADDRESS that is displayed the cursor just sits there. I pull up the login and try to enter the default and it will not connect. Any suggestions?

I TIRED THIS ( I did get a response OK when I entered AT and when I booted up the IPO I was all the start up data scroll across the screen just fine ):

1) Get a 9 pin straight through modem cable
2) Connect to the system with the cable using hyperterminal ( settings in help file)
3) Type at-securityresetall
4) Enter the MAC address that is displayed
5) Passwords are now default smile

Any suggestions?

Do not enter AT at all!!!
Reboot the IPO whe you have done this and type AT-SECURITYRESETALL (capitals) straight away.

But this works from 3.2 and up, any lower version this won't work.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

And use AT_SECURITYRESETALL in capital and not at-securityresetall

there is NO need to reboot the IPO!

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

IPGuru, when you type it wrong or type AT first then it will give "error" and you need to reboot to fix this.
So a reboot can be needed when done wrong.

Sorry typo AT-SECURITYRESETALL in capital

Yes it worked just fine. You know this is real interesting that this system is pretty easy to default but when you look at an Avaya BCM it is a nightmare and you have to go back to Avaya to get a simple Admin password defaulted and pa an arm and leg. It makes one wonder if security on a phone system is really important or not. I know the old Partner systems you just enter Feature Intercom and then I think ** and there is never a password.

You need physical access to the system in order to reset an IP Office, if you have physical access you could do much worse than reset the security settings so that's enough, why make it any more difficult? :)
