I have enabled dch 31, yet when I stat it it says AEST rather than EST, and I am getting regular DTA301 messages, are the two linkee, and can I do anything about it?
I wonder, could someone explain how TN numbers are made up.
I am trying to move a DN number from an existing pri card to my new pri card
The existing card is on loop 1, my new card is loop 3.
the TN for the number is current 2 9, to move it to my new card I can only use 31 1 where 31 is the DCH #, yet on the existing card the dch # is 15, so why is that not the first part of the TN.
LOL bignose21, I've only been doing THIS meridian switch for 3 weeks, and I'm making it all up as I go along. Sorry if I appear to be confusing anyone, I may not be describing things in the right way, or, more than likely, I have done it completely wrong and therfore what I describe is wrong.
acewarlock, it is an 11C.
As I said earlier I am new to this, and have been dropped in at the deep end.
I think I understand what you mean ace when you say that there are no DN's on a PRI. My confusion is to do with the TN's. If I go into ld 60 and do a STAT it tells me that I have 2 loops 001 and 003 which are the 2 PRI cards in my system. When I look up the DN's that we have assigned the TN is 002 x. Now my understanding is that the first part of the TN is the loop. LD 60 has just told me that I have loops 1 and 3, so already I am confused.
A bit of backround, we are trying to get calls to go through the meridian and into an Aculab Prosody card for a voicerec system.
LD 60 tells you about outside trunking (in this case) and the TN's you are talking about for phones are different and are found using LD 10 or 11 (or 20). Don't get caught up trying to determine why loop 2 isn't in 60, apples and oranges.
Thanks John. Ok so could you explain to me how a TN is formed, and what do I need to do to get calls handled by the new PRI card I have installed. This is the card on loop 3. I have a DCH of 31 on 31, a tie on ch1 and did on ch2.
What do you mean, could you explain what you mean?
What do you think a DN is?
"I am trying to move a DN number from an existing pri card to my new pri card"
---------------------------------------------------------
What does this mean?
How do you lookup the DN?
"When I look up the DN's that we have assigned the TN is 002 x."
------------------------------------------------------
I still don't understand why you care how a TN is formed.
I do hope that you are not trying to be awkward or insulting as that is how I have found your post to be.
I 'care' how a TN is formed because I am confused about the numbers that I currently have on the meridian, and what I need to do to get a call through the new card and to the Aculab in the server.
When I STAT in LD 60 I get loops 001 and 003 which correspond to the two PRI cards I have in the meridian, yet when I lookuo a DN number, the TN says 002 x.
John has been kind enough to point out some information. If you don't understand want I am trying to explain then ask, don't be awkward or insulting. And if this is the best you can offer after 10 years of meridian, then maybe you should keep your advice.
If you can't answer the question's we ask with out getting your panties in a wad, then the problem is your's. I have been working on Nortel for 25 years and I have the 2nd highest help rating on theis Forum. The things you keep saying like DN, don't make any sense. i'm trying to get you to explain where your getting the info that you keep posting.
There are no DN's on a PRI/T1
DN's are on phones
There are Loops and Channels on PRI/T1
There are TN's on the Trunk's.
If you can't explain what it is you want to know, then post the following and then we might be able to figure out what your question is. Right now I don't have a clue.
So why not just ask me to supply that information in the 1st place. As you state, you have decades of experience, where as I do not.
As for getting my 'panties in a wad' just how old are you.
I have stated previously that I have no experience in Meridians and all I have 'learned' is what I have picked up in 3 weeks of perusing switch documentation, and playing with the Meridian. I apologise for not talking in the words of a trained switch engineer, but I do have my reasons.
Once I get to the office I will furnish you with the requested information.
And the reason I didn't ask for that info in the first place, is because it is alot of data to print, post and look at. I was hoping to figure out what your real question was so I wouldn't waste your's, mine and everyone else's time guessing at what you really wanted. You'll probally get a lot of people making guess's at answer's that are way off base. As you can see from other post's, I'm not the only one that doesn't understand what your asking. I have seen question's go on for week's with all kind of suggestions on how to fix a problem when all of a sudden someone asks the right question and we find out he was in the wrong forum in the first place. so don't get upset when someone asks you a question that you take as insulting, when all there trying to do is get at what it is your really
asking.

As far as I can see you have 8 active channels on loop 1 and 2 active channels on loop 3. If they are sitting in Idle, they are probably working properly. But why did you not fully populate those PRI's?
when you build PRI's you should be in ld 14 and type something to the nature of
REQ NEW 23
TYPE DID
so on and so forth.
That will populate all 23 channels.
The world's not getting any smarter: so you better learn to live with the stupidity...
The 1st PRI card was preconfigured before I joined the company. The second PRI card I installed with the intention of steering calls to the Aculab card in our server.
Arganine,
One of your first problems is that your DCH 31 is not established. You also stated your get DTA301. Does the aculab eqipment have CRC4 ON (Normal for most EURO ccts) because the default is off on meridian. Try changing it and shutting down your link then reseting the counters then bringing it backup see if the DCH establishes.
