Hi,

We've got a SV8300 on our LAN, behind a firewall that is NAT'ing outgoing traffic through a single public IP. I've port forwarded 5060-5080 to the internal address of the IPLA (192.168.x.21). I've also port forwarded 10000-10031 to the VOIP gateway IP address (192.168.x.22). DT700 handsets on the LAN itself work fine.

I've got one DT700 I want to use remotely on a residential high-speed cable connection. It is also behind a firewall doing NAT and the public IP address is dynamic.

I've read over the NAPT cheat sheets and followed them but I can't get the DT700 to connect. The only exception is if I put in the public address of the cable Internet into "WAN Self IP Address". Even then, I can login and make a call but can't hear any voice connection.

Is there some bullet-proof guide to doing this? It seems like it should be simple to forward specific ports to the SV8300 from the Internet and configure the DT700 to work on any high-speed connection. Shouldn't the DT700 be able to just get an IP from DHCP and then connect to the SV8300?

I've drawn out the config and linked it as a JPEG, in case that helps.

Thanks in advance,

AS

I'm having almost the same problem.

We have an SV8100 at the client site, and DT700 phones both on and off of the local network.

When connecting remotely from behind a NAT Firewall, the phone says "SIP SERVER NOT FOUND".

When logging into web pro and checking 15-05-07 it shows the phone checking in from the NAT IP address. The problem appears to be that the phone is reaching the server, but the server is attempting to reply to the RFC1918 address, so the reply never comes back.

We have found one workaround in which behind our Sonicwall firewall we can check "Enable SIP Transformations" and the phone will connect and complete calls (though the audio is a bit choppy), however not all firewalls have this feature and clearly we need to be able to have the phones connect from behind a Linksys/Netgear/D-Link NAT Firewall.

Phone is a DT700 Series ITL-6DE-1, Firmware Version 3.0.5. The SV8100 firmware was recently updated to 4.01

Where are you finding the "WAN Self IP Address" setting on the phone?

OK, I got it now...

Turn on Phone
Hit Menu when phone says “SIP SERVER NOT FOUND”
Select the only option “Config”
Login, Username is already filled in, press down on the directional to enter password “6633222” (NNEECCC)
Hit center of directional to continue
Go to SIP SETTINGS
Go to SIP SERVER ADDRESS & URI
Go to 1ST SERVER ADDRESS
Change to 0.0.0.0
OK
Go down to 8 “NAT TRAVERSAL”
Change 1. “NAT TRAVERSAL MODE” to DYNAMIC
Go to 3. “WAN SETTINGS”
Go To 1. “WAN MATE IP Address”
Enter The WAN IP of the SV8100 (10-12-07)
OK
Go to 2. WAN SIP MATE PORT
Enter 5080 (Or whatever you have in 10-46-06)
OK
EXIT
EXIT
EXIT
Save
Phone Reboots
Should connect.

Do you have to have a license in order for the NAPT feature to work on the SV8100?
