When logging into my Solaris 8 box as a user, I get the following message.

'The DT Messaging System could not be started'

hosts file is ok, the other two files I am asked to check do not exist ../etc/src.sh, and /usr/adm/inetd.sec..

Any ideas?

you do have a full CDE install, don't you?

yes it is a full CDE install. This only started happening a couple of weeks ago.

have you deleted changed files, that you know of? does it only happen for one user?
do you have other sys-admin that might have modified anything ...
any messages about ToolTalk appear?
do you have any '.TT*' files in your home directory?
any TT_DB directories around?

stuff like that?

Sorry to break off the subject, but I would just like to know, what's the purpose of the TT_DB directories? Is it safe to remove them?
