New NEC DSX40 with 8 each 34 button sets and 3 Analog Lines. From time to time when a call rings in and she presses that line key, the phone will act as if it was unplugged and plugged back in. If she presses Speaker or lifts the handset, there is no problem. Any Ideas. Also release 3 on the software. Thanks in advance for any help

Possibly a bad phone? has it been swapped out for a known working phone?

Yes. Replaced with new out of box sets twice. And twice with known working phones. Going to change out the grounding wire next. Then if that doesn't work, I'm going to replace the house cable to the jack. I moved her to another port and it happens there also. A real brain teaser.

Is there anything on the desk or near the phone that might generate static discharge? A foot warmer? Personal coffer machine? Personal device? Something environmental.

Did you try connecting the telephone directly to the cabinet? If the problem happens all the time and you can duplicate right at the cabinet then its a problem with the port. Hello I just joined this forum and saw this post, FYI I worked for NEC as tech support on DSX.

Sorry for not posting the resolution to this problem earlier. We replaced the phone, the KSU, upgraded the software, replaced the Amphenol Cable, moved to a different power outlet, new grounding cable, ran new Cat 5e Cable to the phone. Did everything I could think of. NEC support recommended all of the above after I had already done them. Then I finally got hold of a NEC Support Tech who said to re-crimp the RJ45 ends on the Factory Amphenol Cable. He said they have had weird problems when they were not fully crimped. Wouldn't you know it. The problem has now been corrected. I never thought about there being a bad batch of Tails with bad crimps. Any way the problem is resolved. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and help
