I'm working on a legend r6 and the DSS of the DLC operator isn't lighting. She has an MLX 20D phone and I've renumbered the pages of the DSS to 7600-7650 for page 1 and so on. My dial plan is 7600-7799 for extensions. I've tried to test the extensions and the phone lights up but the DSS doesn't. When I connected the DSS itself I used the cable that came with it so I don't understand what it could be. Any suggestions?

You could try testing it with the *00 test function. Press Speaker with an SA key selected, you should hear system dialtone, then press *00 and all the keys should light up on the MLX20L and the DSS. If not you may have a defective DSS or MLX20L set. I have experienced both causing the other to fail. At one point I went thru 3 consoles and 3 DSS sets before I had a working pair. I was told by Avaya support that they have had this happen in the past.

You did note that you used the cable that came with the DSS, because that is a special cable just for the DSS.

I just remembered one more thing. Is the cable feeding the jack at the MLX20L 4-pair? It needs all four pairs to work! the -48VDC is on the Brown pair and that supplies the DSS. So that should be checked, especially if you have NO lites!

guess what...cam in this morning and it was fixed. It was the cross connect. oh and I guess I'm lucky cuz both consoles work with their DSS's. thanks!!!
