Hi,

we have a strange problem. DSS/BLF lamp from one user is not working any more. I tested it also with my phone with same result. All users are on the same Controler, so that remote BLF should not be a reason for this.

Any hints what we can do, to solve the problem?

Thanks !

Is it an IP phone or a DNIC?
There have been issues with the new 5324 sets and old versions of the PKM.

New Version 2 PKM Module part number which is required for the 5324 series IP phones and is backwards compatible with 5220,5224,5235 sets. Also a new Version 2 5310 IP conference unit module compatible with 5235, 5324,5330 and 5340 sets.

More Information
There is a new PKM Module Version 2 Part number 50005662 OLD Part number 50002825 5200 series(PKM),

The following list describes the new part number requirements for installation of PKM and IP conference interface modules for the 53xx and 52xx sets.

Part No: 50005662
Marketing Description
IP PKM Interface Module (v2) (FRU)
Product Notes
Used to connect IP PKM 12 or IP PKM 48 to 5324 IP Phone.

Also make sure it is not plugged into the PC port. I had a customer the other day complain that the PKM was not working. We rolled out and someone plugged it into the PC port.

Hi,

it is an IP 5312 phone, but I have also tested it with 5340 phone with the same result. I don't think that is a phone issue, because DSS/BLF for other DN's are working, only DSS/BLF for one specific DN is not working any more.
I tried a maintenance command LOAD IPDEVICE <DN> to reload the ip device, without success.

Anyone else have an idea?

I've seen this before, but not since Rel-7.1.

If memory serves, I had to remove all DSS keys associated with the device and then restart the controller.

Afterwards the DSS worked normally.

Paterson was more directly involved, Maybe he'll add something I've forgotten. MP it was at SC.

I have seen the same thing and with the same fix. Deprogram all keys associated with the monitored DN, boot the controller and reprogram the DSS appearance(s)

Hi,

Is it just the lamp that isn't working? Can you call the extension using the key?

Is the blf lamp that isn't working for a phone that is a multicall. If it is then all appearances would need to be busy for it to show a lamp unless you change the BLF option to show on usage. I can't remember if this is in system options or cos.

Odie... raises a good point.

Check Multiline Set Group assignment for the phone. Is the line type Multicall.

The Check the System Option: BLF/DSS key shows busy on set Enabled (or something to that effect) This option should be set to yes.

If the above is set correctly, follow previous advice.

Hi,

I checked the DN and the line type is single sine. Calling the extension using the key is working. The System options are set as:

BLF - Busy Indication based on set enabled: No
BLF - CFA Indication based on set enabled: Yes

Anyway I found the solution for me, how to solve it.

1. Cleared the MAC for phone device
2. Removed programmed DSS/BLF on all phones for this specific DN
3. Unplugged the phone and registered it again
4. Programmed DSS/BLF again and now it works

Thanks for helping!!!

Well done..

Final note, if you have any multicall buttons on your system you should consider changing the System option for BLF - Busy Indication based on set enabled: to YES.

Otherwise the lamp will only activate if ALL appearances are busy. It also won't lamp if the phone is using a key other than the prime line.

By the way, since DSS/BLF gets mentioned so often it might be worth more than mere casual awareness that DSS/BLF is a limited system resource that can very easily get depleted on medium-to-large installations if not used sparingly.

Yes, the dimension value can be flexed, but take it from someone who has been to that party, the beer is flat and the girls are ugly.
