I have assigned a DSS key on an Optiset so that there is an appearance for an analog extension, but I want the Optiset to ring when the analog extension is called. Checking the 'Ring Option' button has no effect. What am I missing?
The DSS is just that - Direct Station Selection, whereby you can push that button on the OptiSet to ring the Analog Extension.
You need to put DSSWOOVR in the SDAT of the OptiSet otherwise it will ring the phone and not follow it's diverts but that is something else.
To make the OptiSet ring when the Analog is ringing you could just put them in a Pickup group for beep beep notification at the OptiSet.
Or you can get both to ring by using Groupcall.
You can put them into Groupcall - Turn on Group call in ZAND
Setup a new COS with GRPCAL in it
Add both phones into that COS
You can use ONS - One number service - whereby a caller rings one phone (Either the OptiSet or Analog) and both would ring.
That is setup via ADD-SA
I believe that you can also turn on "DSS Alert" which is a single "beep" notification whenever a call hits a DSS key. I believe that is a system-wide parameter, so if you turn it on for one phone you turn it on for all of them. I don't think you can do it on a phone by phone basis like you used to be able to do in the olden days.
