Is there a way to connect a 2nd DSS 4450 with an Avaya 4424 D+, if not how how can I activate the shift key for the DSS 4450 to access the extra buttons. I can do it with a Magix system but it does not work with IP office

Be Mindfull the is a IP Offive 406 v3.0 (44)

Shift key doesn't work on IP Office. The bottom buttons are 75 through 84 in button programming so you can have 60 DSS buttons per 4450. You should be able to add a second DSS for a total of 120, but beyond that it is not supported.

Thanks this was a long fight with a Avaya support tech who said it could be done. Thanks for clarifing. Your supprt was helpful.

I installed the second DSS and programed the buttons but the status lights when some is on the phone does not light up. When its in the "in" position, but light up when its in the "out" position and its a exact duplicate of the first DSS anyone please help if a second DSS is supported

I've found that you have to play with these a little bit, try "activating" it by putting it on its own phone. In the end, you should have the first DSS block plugged into the phone (DSS IN to Phone ADJ) and the second DSS block plugged into the first (DSS2 IN to DSS1 OUT). It works, at least on 3.0.69, I've done it.

I have it connected as you stated. It works fine but the light indicators do not light up when someone is on the phone. Im running Ver. 3.0.44 could that be the issue. Avaya again stated that they do not support a second DSS. So im confused when some techs say that it works for them.

This is a quote directly from the 3.0 section "phone add-ons" of the website. I would assume if they publish it it is supported

4450
Add-on for 4424D+ phone. Connects to the phone's ADJ port. An additional power supply unit and mains power supply socket are required for the phone. A second 4450 can be chained from the first.

Up to two 4450 units can be connected to an existing phone. Each IP Office control unit or expansion module with DS ports supports a maximum of either two EU24 units or two XM24 units or two 4450 units.

I have two 4450s at a site. Running 3.0.69. Thinks to check are that the short special cords are plugged in the correct in /out ports. And plug the transformer in first, then the line cord, and last the 2 pair cord going from the transformer to the 4424. We have problems when the power goes out and comes back up without being connected in this order.
