I have a customer that has DSL. He tells me that every time they receive a fax it bumps them off the internet. If he is in the middle of an email or something he loses it. Could this be cheap or bad filters? There are filters at the fax and each PC. I know I am asking this late seeing as I have to be there tomorrow morning.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Brian

Put more/better/different filters on. We have seen some cases with a fax/modem switch that needed 6 filters cascaded to make the DSL and fax work consistently.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I think the only place to grab diff. ones at this point is Radio Shack.

Did you solve the problem?

If it's a small combined fax/phone/answermachine, I've known the fax paper motor to generate electrical noise which has knocked out the DSL signal.

What's the noise margin (dB) on your downstream DSL signal?

Turns out the guy had the filters in the wrong place.

Thanks everyone.
