Folks, I've been searching hi & lo for a DSL console reference on its commands. It is very similar to Cisco routers and switches, but was wondering if anyone had a simgular work that addressed a DSL modem's console commands (or, are they proprietary to the actual modem?). I own a D-Link DSL-300i, and plug into the console via serial port to configure the modem. It works fine, but was curious as to the other commands it contains. Any help will be most appreciated.

Dear All;

I just want to know that how can i program a external IP address into a DSL-300i dlink? do you guys have any idea??

Thanks!

i have programmed the ip into the dlink modem already.
thanks anyway.

one more thing. does any know how to totally reset the 3com home connect adsl configuration? (removing the password as well)?

I have a DSL-300I. When I try to get into the Firmware thru the Upgrade/Utility program, it says "Can't find any device". I've also tried to get into it in the steps previously noted via Hyperterm. No luck, either!

If anybody could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

In order to get the Upgrade utility to recognize the modem, edit the ini file in \Program Files\D-Link\DSLFamily\300upgUtility\dslupg.ini

edit the SearchDevices=

to read:

SearchDevices=DSL-300I,DSL-M,CH-300M, EN-30

That should get you to the next step.

In order to take advantage of the Upgrade use the password of admin.

My firmware code is R2.00M.b6 - new code R1.14

I am not going to reflash, as I have no way to backup the current rom image (that I am aware of)

BTW: The Configuration utility has the same ini file design, append an I to the 300 and it will discover the device.

Hi All,

Has anyone been able to locate the complete console command reference for the D-LINK DSL300i?

I noticed there are a number of postings that provide snipets of various commands but nothing exhaustive. I checked the D-LINK ftp site under the DSL300 directory and did not find anything appropriate.

Any info would be great. One of the things I would like to find out either way is when you enable tracing for various modules where are the traces stored? I did a listing in the flashfs module but no new files or recently updated files. I would like to be able to trace various modules. Also, is there any relation to the "events" cmd at the home directory level? There is "event next ... etc".

Thanks!

Hi,

This is my first post to this site so I hope I am doing it
correctly.
I came upon this thread in a google search. I too am a
Telus DSL customer with the dlink dsl-300i modem with the
orion99 password. I would also be interested in the CLI
documentation if it's out there somewhere. However, I
do have a specific question if anyone is able to help.

What I'd like to do is decrease the modem's incoming packet
buffer size. In other words, packets are sent from my lan
at 10 mbps ethernet speed, they are buffered in the modem
to a point then packets get dropped as the modem
can only send upstream at 640 kbits/sec. The problem as
mentioned in several howto documents is a large buffer in
the modem will defeat any queueing done on the local
firewall. For example, an htb queue is ineffective unless
we either throttle to below 640kbt/sec so the modem never
buffers or decrease the modem's packet buffer such that
packets are dropped sooner and latency is improved.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Shane

One other thing to note...after changing the *.ini file noted above, you have to make sure your firewall will allow communciation to the modem.

On Windows XP you must disable Window's Internet Connection Firewall...if you also have something like Zone Alarm - you have to allow the communication to go thru to the modem.

Otherwise you will still see the error "Can't Find Any Device!"

the secret password is " admin " as stated in the manual
why so hard for everyone to find

If you actually read this thread, you'd find that users of specific ISPs (e.g. TELUS) have different passwords on their DSL modems.

Hi All,

Does anyone know the specific trace commands to initiate/terminate IP packet logs or even ATM packet logs on the DSL 300i? I looked at the DSL500 reference as mentioned above but its not clear to me where the logs are actually stored? I played around a bit enabled various traces but couldn't find a resulting log file. I checked the flashfs but no new files. Any clues to the actual command sequence and perhaps a description of where/how the logs are stored?

Thanks!

Has anyone 'uncapped' this device with much success? Just wanted to know if you could get more juice out of this baby. Then again, if QOS is done at the ISP site, don't bother.

Later.

Anyone know the password to the new DSL-300g modems from TELUS? Thanks.

Hi All,

I see alot of people wondering what the password is for the DSL300i units used on the Telus DSL network. Surely then someone must know the specific trace commands to initiate/terminate IP packet logs or even ATM packet logs on the DSL 300i? I looked at the DSL500 reference as mentioned above but its not clear to me where the logs are actually stored? I played around a bit enabled various traces but couldn't find a resulting log file. Have anyone been able to configure this modem with bell sympatico's service? thanks

I bought a DSL-300i on eBay and after 2 weeks of hassle found out that it's for western canada only. I tried flashing the firmware w/ the DSL-300 utility and now all I have is a solid Power and ADSL light -- I can't get teh flash utility to recognize the modem as a DSL-300 or 300i.

Anyone know how I might be able to get this thing back to the original firmware and upgrade it to the 300ie ROM?

Hi

Does everyone knows the user / password to connect with telnet to the DSL-300IE ?

I tried to connect to the box with a serial cable (null-modem) but it doesn't work. The utility works but I don't have the password (the password from the doc doesn't work and " admin " too...

I tried to call the dlink support, but the guy didn't wants to give these infos ...

Thanks for infos
