We came across something we have never seen before. A customer's IP Office crashed during last night's storm. The controller unit has 9.1 with 2 Combo and 2 DS8 boards. When we navigate to Control Unit the two DS8 boards will show with a Dev Type set to "APPS PC Demo" and they will not work. We are thinking that both DS8s are damaged but we are very curious about the Dev Type. The extension on both DS8s are not turning on, they are dead. Could it be as simple as a damaged configuration file or it is a bad board?

go into Manager and delete the 2 culprits from the Control Unit option and also delete any extension ports that are at these positions, then reboot the system and see if it comes back normally again.

Never seen APPS PC Demo but other weird stuff has appeared over the years.

If you give more information you will get better answers. If you only give bits and pieces then you will get the same back and maybe not fitting your problem.

Agree with Westi. If that fails, trying loading an old config back onto the system if you have one that isn't too old. And if able to do any of this on site, shutdown and inspect the cards for physical damage (blown components somewhere on the circuit board).

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

The tech brought the system to the office and I got a chance to look at it. I found one of the combo cards had a visible burn mark from the top to the bottom of the connector between the boards. When the board is plugged in and you connect a digital phone it keeps ringing the extension like in a loop, never seen anything like that before. The second combo card had a bad ATM4 board, the analog port LEDs were solid green. We discarded the burned combo card and replaced the ATM4 on the board with the solid green LEDs. The phone system came right up and it's now running without any problems.
It's amazing what lightning can do to a phone system if you do not have the analog trunks and the PRI's on good surge protectors. Thanks for all the help.
