Are you using the provided shielded cable? (as DaIPOTek already stated)
Do you have a small upgrade license?
Do you see the expansions extension in the config?
If you go to file>advanced>upgrade can you see the expansion?
Have you tried multiple expansion ports?
Usually the blinking red part means it is an error on the module. I believe there is a FAQ on this site about what to do if you module has a red light. I am sure there are posts if not a FAQ.
The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
I am using the blue cable provided,
The module is not showing up on the conrtole unite neither when attepmting to upgrade.
I do not have the upgrade lic.
Make sure the expansion is powered on before the processor.
The file server can be set to manager of it allows that in the manager preferences or better set to SD card.
If it doesn't get the files or is not recognized then it may be broken or the processor may have been upgraded with a small upgrade license which will not allow expansion units to work.
