Hey folks

Just purchased a new DS1 board for a 3rd T I'm going to add to my S8500/G650. In the documentation it says words to the effect of "don't use a CAT5 cable to run from the CSU to the smart jack". I can't say as I've ever used anything other than a standard CAT5 from CSU to smart jack.

Anyone have any insight ?

Thanks

Pete

You can use a cat5e cable, but the sheilding on it is not very good. Thats why they have T1 cables with extra shielding that you can buy. But in reality I have never had an issue with a standard cat5e cable as long as 1,2 and 4,5 are the same on both ends.

T1 cables have only two pair and each pair is separately shielded. If you have multiple T1 cables next to each other the individual shielding becomes more important.
