Ive just recently been tasked with getting the program up and working. Ive gotten it working but I am still getting bombarded with Event Storms. I have buried myself in the books for a good month and still cant figure out what is causing them. Does anyone know of a good reference that I can consult on this problem? I already have the standard hp manuals and the OpenView book by Bloomers. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Mitch

Hi Mitch,

You've got to work through the Events that are causing you problems I'm afraid. Sometimes a long job, but stick with it. Don't be afraid of Acknowledging scads of messages (whilst you're in this development phase) in the Browser so that you can see what you're doing.

Find out which Templates are originating the Events and suppress duplicates and unimportant Events in the Templates. Then re-Distribute the Templates to the Managed Nodes. Mike

Email welcome if you're in a hurry or something -- but post in tek-tips as well please, and I will post my reply here as well.

So how do I find out which templates are causing the storms? It doesnt show much of anything when I try getting the details in the alarm browser.

Hmmm - I forgot to ask. Are you using full blown OpenView Operations (also known as ITO or VantagePoint Operations) or just Network Node Manager? (NNM) Mike
