Dropping TCP.IP Packets

I just configured the integrated Ethernet adaptor on the motherboard for an SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7 system. The driver installed OK and the adaptor was found (verified with hwconfig –h). I can ping 127.0.0.1 and the machine’s own IP (192.168.1.59) with no problem. I can not Ping other machines on my network. If I ping my default router only about 25% of the packets are received successfully.

The IP address is within the proper range for my site.
The subnet mask is correct.
The host and domain names are correct.

I have tried speeds of 100 full duplex, 100 half duplex, 10 full duplex and 10 half duplex. As I changed the speed I could continue to ping the router and no other system. At 10 half duplex it seemed better (dropped less packet) than the other speeds.

I have also tired Ether II and 802.n protocols to see if that would help.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like either an overloaded network, bad cabling, or a bad NIC. As long as you have SCO compatible drivers the install should not require any special treatment.

Are you sure your drivers are for the correct version of SCO? This isn't a wireless is it? Was this NIC replacing a previous NIC or is this a fresh install? Did you configure your NIC using the Network Configuration Manager? Does the manager show any conflicts with other devices? Did you install the TCP/IP protocol?
