Dropped Calls

I am suffering through something similar to thread690-1490170. In our situation we've have a fiber connected remote site with a G350 that reports occasional phantom calls and calls that cut out. Callers that get cut off have trouble getting back in. They thought they had narrowed it mostly to calls routed through their Intuity auto-attendant vs. direct dialed calls. All service starts in our main site via a managed T1 coming into a S8300/G700. The service provider is Zayo (formerly Onvoy)

We've replaced the digital module in the G350, regrounded, had Avaya look at the technician logs, etc. All to no avail. Due to a different problem we've also recently replaced the whole main G700 and it's DSP. They have still seen some drops and disturbingly, I just experienced one myself in our main site.

In my case the caller dropped mid sentence about 1 1/2 min. into the conversation: I still saw his number but heard nothing. He called back and reported that he heard a click then got a fast busy. He also said his return call was very noisy. The dropped calls that have been logged mostly seem to drop over a minute into the call. The users seem to be pretty good about separating cell phone drops from real drops.

The fast busy reported in my case suggests a carrier issue, I don't know of any other sites reporting these types of drops and they only seem to affect incoming calls. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

sounds like your PRI is having issues, have you looked at the 24 hour error log? "list measurments ds1 log 01AXX" (where "AXX" is your cabinet and slot # for the DS1 card)

see if you have some Error Seconds (ES), listed, or if any of the fields are non-zero, you don't have a clean DS1 circuit. If so, call the carrier and get them to fix it...

All zeros. Of course, I don't know a call was dropped today. If I can get notification ASAP after a drop though, that gives me something to check. Thanks.

I have seen dropped call issues like this related to network issues rather than the PBX. We support a site in Phoenix that often experiences dropped calls during the worst of the summer months - typically they end up replacing what they call "heat coils" on the circuit. Something else to have them check, if the PBX isn't showing errors on its end.
