Hi Everyone,

Can you tell me if the sort order in a dropdown or a combo dropdown can be changed from the default sort order? If yes, can you tell me how to do it?

I was able to do something like this in the dropdown of an eip field, by populating a queue, but as for a regular dropdown I did not see any control templates I could place on my window that would ask me for a column in a queue. It only allowed a column in a table to be selected.

Thanks.
Emad

Hi Emad,

If you're wanting to use a Queue then you don't need a control template. The control itself has all of the attributes you need.

Hi Emad,

From my experience with Drop & Combo Lists, I have noticed that setting a sort order makes no difference and it always sorts on the first column of the List Box i.e. until C6.2.9049. I have recently upgraded to C6.3.9055 and not sure if it is different there.

Regards

Hi ShankarJ,

I am using the same version as you are using.

Thanks.

Hi Mark,

I won't be using a queue for this dropdown. The dropdown is filled from the database table.

I found (well at least I am new to Clarion) that a queue is used when setting up a dropdown in EIP.

In the listbox properties window of the dropdown, I have 2 columns. One is for the sort number and the other is for the text I would would only like to show up in the dropdown. I want to hide the sort order number column. Do you know if I can sort it on the sort number column?

Thanks.

Emad

Hi Emad,

You can set a prop:format on the dropdown listbox, so yes you can hide a column. If you were using a queue, you just mention the columns that you wish to show. If you are using templates built queues, most people just set the column width to 0

(I haven't checked, but I would assume that) The templates will create a queue for your download list, in which case you just need to sort that queue after it's populated.

SORT(Q, Q.SortOrderField) for ascending
SORT(Q, -Q.SortOrderField) for descending

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the information. I will investigate further.
