First off many thanks to all who responded. However I am still unable to render a drop shadow to my text. Also, when the text is selected the Object > Drop Shadow feature is, greyed out, not an option. When the entire text box is selected (a yellow binding box?) I am able to see the Object > Drop Shadow option but when I check the drop shadow button in the menu the entire page loses luminosity/contrast - and the text never gets its drop shadow. Needless to say this is a complete puzzle for me. Obviously I am doing something majorly wrong. I'd gladly jump to Pagemaker 7 but funds are presently low. Any and all help is deeply appreciated. Thanks all.

If you are comfortable with it, I can look at the file if you email it to me - vakohles at gmail dot com. I like trying to help folks out and figuring out puzzles. If I can see what it is that is happening I could help you more easily.

Responded to what?

Please keep all your posts about this issue in one thread here. It is confusing to jump between the three different threads to understand the one issue completely.

WHY???!!!

PageMaker 7 does not support drop shadows and it is a dead end product. Adobe has stated that they are not developing it further.

Have you checked the Preview box on the right side of the Drop shadow window? Also, what setting have you used for the drop shadow, like opacity, etc? If you have something like 0 opacity or 0 spread, nothing will show.

Using OSX 10.3.8 on a G4

You cannot create a drop shadow effect on editable text. You have to outline the text first, then create the dropshadow effect.

I'm not sure why it is not working for you, however it is possible to apply a drop shadow to editable text. You can even apply it to text, and then change the text. :)

One thing is that you must have the arrow tool selected. Sometimes you have to click off the box and back on, but it should work. I have not seen it work with the text tool selected though.

Hope that helps,
Shannon
