Hello all! And a happy friday to ya!

I am trying to create a paramter that will prompt to user to select a name. When the "enter paramter values" box appears, I would like a drop down menu so the user will select one of the given options...

How do I do this? Right now I can only get a single line text box (no drop down)

Cheers!

Hi!
Which version of Crystal are you using?
In Crystal version 8.5 The parameter field is populated by adding default values from the "Set Default Values" You can either manually type values here, or pick them from a list of data from a field. The only problem with this is that the default values are just that, the list will not dynamically change when a new database is selected. This is OK if you are always going to use the same database (and you don't mind adding to the defaults whenever new data is added to your database), but a real problem if not!

Cheers,

I am running version 7.

I have added numerous 'default' values in the paramter field. However, when I open the report from a browser the promt only shows a single text box with one value (the first from the list in the 'edit parameter' box).

Maybe this is the problem...

I am trying to create a paramter prompt where users can select the DATABASE they wish to view. I have added all the relevant databses to the report.¨

How can I make a paramter box that will include a drop down menu where the user selects tha database they wish to view?

cheers,

- iain

ps friday's always seem to drag on longer than you expect don't they!

i don't think that it is possible - if you get it working though, please let me know how you did it!
Justine.

Hi Iain,

I assume you have created a string parameter (discrete),
added some defaults to the right hand box in the setup.

Can I also assume that you have not set the save data with report option, as this will not allow you to supply parameters correctly.

When you run the report, the prompt is being displayed.

There should be a liitle black drop down triangle next to the first default value. If you click on that the others should appear!
