ok,

I have a problem with reports. I want to have a report that shows activity for all clients but i don't want the report to be a million pages long. I'd like to have a drop down menu that the user can select which client he/she wants to view but i don't know how to do it. I wrote the queries and the shell report but a small window keeps comming up with a dialog box for the user to type in the client name. how can i make this a drop down box for the user to select which on he wants or select all? i can post more details if needed.

Thanks in advance
Chris

About the only way to do it is to create a PopUp Dialog box with a Combo/List box on it. Use the name of your Combo in your underlying query
=Forms!PopUpForm!ComboBox
instead of
[Enter Client Name]
as the parameter in the query. Help has some pretty good information about PopUp dialog boxes.

ok,

it still pops up with a enter the text block. I'd like to have a drop down menu or a list box. Maybe i'm not understanding your instructions. Can you please explain?

Thanks
Chris

You have to create a Form with the Combobox on it. Then open this form first, allow your user to select the info they need from the dropdown, and then use an event to open the Report. Set the Criteria line for the underlying query of the report to point to the dropdown box. There is no way to have a dropdown box display as the parameter directly from the query. You have to use a Form to filter the value in your query that sends the info to your Report.
