How do you design report parameters with a list of values? What I mean is that the user get a option from selecting from pre-defined values in a drop down box.
Also how can you retrieve these drop down values from the database?

Which version of Actuate? Version 5 and above ships with an example report to use Browser Scripting Controls to load a list of values as you describe.

Yes ,i thnk probably the browser scripting control will solve my problem....but i cant see the controls when i run the report.
do i require to do somethng ..?
i am using actuate 5

You aren't going to see the BSC's on your development system when you run a report, as the reports must be run from the server and viewed through a browser across the web to see if your scripting is working as desired. That is one draw back to BSC's (until version 7, where changes have been made addressing this).

If you literally cannot see a BSC on the report when run from a browser, then you need to check the control's properties; there are:
ShowInDHTML
ShowInPDF
ShowWhenPrinting
ShowWhenViewing

By default these are set to true, but that is where to start.

I am facing the sample problem i.e i am unable to see the BSC in the web browser even though all my settings (as mentioned in the thread) are set to true. Kindly help. urgent ! i am unable to display the browsing script control
which has a drop down list box with some values ..!

if possible kindly given me a sample code (with all events/methods) for displaying values in the list box.

Hi Guys:

Just curious to know whether you have checked the HTML Code which had been written in BrowseCode property of the browsing scripting control.

While running from Erd-Pro, right click the control and choose an option to check the HTML Code. There are many samples in the provided on Browser script control. Check your samples folder for the same.

I have used BSC and it worked well.

Thanks

Arun

Version 7.0 allows you to hard code a list of entries that will populate a parameter drop down list, without any browser scripting control.
