DRO from CD/Disk not working

I'm using AS2K, SP4 with DRO SP4. When I try to do a DR from CD, it asks me to insert SP1 Disk 3 CD into A:. Even when I cut the CD down to fit into the floppy drive it wouldn't work (just kidding). It offers me no options but retry or quit.

I burned the CD using Nero, and created from the image made using the DR wizard.

When I try to restore using the DR floppies, I get to the point where it's setting up the network (after several reboots and after the machine disk). Then I get "An error has occurred while initializing module. The application will terminate." The log window shows:
Function DRGet Device Info() failed"
[61166] W2KDR: End of initializeModuleW2KDRmode
And of course, it doesn't really terminate. It hangs.

Win2K installs fine outside of the DR process. Please help...

Hopefully you are in a testing phase. To use technical terms, something sounds screwed up. Assuming you are testing, I would try rebuilding the server manually, deleteing the machine specific folder under the DR directory, a subdirectory of whichever directory you installed ARCserve to and perform a new backup through the client agent with sp 4 applied.

Fritz,

Fortunately this was a test. I am trying DR using a freshly loaded server (complete with the client agent w/SP4). I am running the Disk based backup (as opposed to tape). I will do as you suggested and go from there.

My confidence, however, is not inspired by the DR product. I was able to reload 2000 and do a full restore in less time than I spent trying to get DR to work. Kind of defeats the purpose of a DR product, and the CA website has NOTHING on the errors I am getting. But I am stubborn and determined to make this work.

Thanks,

Scott

OK. New information. I learned that I can't copy the i386 folder to the hard drive when creating the DR Boot CD. That is where the "Insert Service Pack 1 CD into Drive A:" error came from. If I put the Win2k cd into the CD drive and press enter there, the setup would continue until another error, "Country.sys corrupted" then quit.

So, I burned another CD using the Win2K CD when prompted, and all was well until I got the same error I got using floppies, "An error occurred while initializing module. The application will now terminate."

We are backing up to disk instead of tape, if that makes any difference. All DR patches have been applied.

Anybody out there know what to do next?

If I'm not wrong, think you can't use backup to disk for DR. Have you tried using a physical tape device to test?
