Hi, I am looking to scan in users driving licenses (UK) and extract the picture and OCR the text for input into a database.

Any one know of how best to do this, my ideal is to have a little business card scanner on the desk and for users to use this to feed in the cards and extract it via an API of some description.

Any thoughts at all?

Cheers,
Dave

A lot of retail card swipers already have an API in place. I'm not sure about the UK Drivers License as I am from Canada but I know you can get basic information. Photo is a different story.

Take a look at some retail scanners to see if they already have what you're looking for.

That is why i posted on here, after 4 hours trawling through, to then be told to have a look at what's out there is a pretty pointless post, cheers anyway.

Take a look at ID Scan Pro:

I don't know about an API, but worst case, you could extract data after the fact from it's built-in DB. (If I'm not mistaken, it uses an Access backend.)
