We have a HP 1200 that is networked using an external HP JetDirect box and shared via W2K Server. We have a user with a special application that needs to print to that printer using an HP4 driver. If I change the driver at the Server level or on her workstation, it changes the driver for all users which hoses up their formatting. Is there any way in W2k to change the driver for a networked printer on a PC to PC basis?

Not sure about changing the driver on a PC by PC basis, but you could do either:
1. On the server, create a new HP4 printer and use the HP1200 port
2. On the PC, create a new local HP4 printer and manually add a port to point to the HP1200

Install a local printer that prints to the printers Jet direct box (standard tcp/ip port) then install the HP4 driver and tell the user to print to that printer when needed.

Great info. I have been trying to install this printer on the network with the software provided by HP and it would not install. I followed the above steps and printer write off the bat. Thanks again.
