hi have inserted a tape into the drive in the correct manor, BE is not detecting the tape also to make thingss more complex the tape will not eject, i tried pressing the dat drive eject button and right clicking on the tape in devices>eject no luck
Check all your connections.
Stop the Backup Exec services.
Start the services.
See if that solves the issue.
If not:
Stop the backup exec services
Reboot the Tape device (or server if it's a single tape drive).
Start the backup exec services.
See if that solved the issue.
If not:
Stop the backup exec services.
Use the Backup Exec install disk and choose the REPAIR option.
Reboot the server.
Start the services.
See if that solved the issue.
Which warning light? Could it be the light that tells you to clean the tape drive?
Try this, put in a cleaning tape. That's all you have to do, the drive will automatically detect it and start cleaning. When it's done it will eject the cleaning tape. Then you just need to put in the real tape.
Did the light go out?
(BTW- you will need to go to Devices tab, right click on the tape drive and go to the cleaning tab. Then reset the cleaning statistics. On an autoloader this is done automatically, but on a single drive it has to be done manually.)
