What would the setup be for using ftp to upload from local site to remote site. I have both Win2000 machines loaded with Dreamweaver. I have downloaded a FTP program but do I need to load FTP program on remote site first?

One good feature about Dreamweaver is that no outside FTP program is necessary. You set up your FTP preferences by clicking on "Site", "New Site". In the Category field, enter your FTP settings in both the "Local" and "Remote" categories. Good luck!

What about the other end? Does anything need to be on the remote server pc? I have connected to it with Internet Explorer for weeks now, but I can't connect with anything else. I even loaded an ftp program on remote and setup passwords. I tried ftp programs on the local pc and nothing but explorer works?
Help, I would love to use DW for it. scarecrowrob

Who is your host? Do they support FTP access? If so what are the settings they gave you.. The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made.

I own the server and have it setup with FTP to be allowed. I can FTP with internet explorer, but nothing else.
I am getting in with ftp.rob@mydomain.com and it does accept my login and password that I set up. I have it setup for passive FTP. My dreamweaver settings are also the same. scarecrowrob
