Hi there, I'm new to web development and using dreamweaver. I like to use the layout mode primarily, but I have found several issues with it. For one, lets say I have two layout tables side by side. Once the page is full of content often the left table with auto expand down and the the back ground can be seen below the last cell in the table!

This is incredibly frustrating when trying to get the page perfect. Does anyone familiar with this? Should I stop using the layout mode or is it totally unrelated to it.

How can I be sure that two tables that are side by side will not interfere with each other?

I appreciate any help!

First thing I do when I install DW is go to the site files,
EDIT > preferences > Layout veiw and make sure that "auto insert spacers" is set to never.

when you have DW auto inserting spacers, it can throw tables out horribly, and that could be the cause of your problem.

You also have to be aware that content will expand tables from left to right so unless you set the table width, or percentage, you can get tables taking over the page because they have more content.

If you are really new to web deveolpment, I suggest you work through some basic tutorials supplied with DW to get you started.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

Thanks Cat, I made the change in my preferences. Hopefully that does the trick!
