Before I thank everyone, I'd like to relate a little story. Many of you know that I frequent about 4 or 5 tech sites regularly. At each of them, I posted about the release of the "Dreamboat on Word" book. This site was the only one who chose to see it as some form of advertisement, instead of the definite "congratulations to US" that it was intended to be. I never could have written that book had all of you not taught me everything that I know about Word. Due to that attitude about my post, I became VERY disappointed with tek-tips and kinda ducked out quietly (no door slamming). That said...

Juan Pablo Gonzalez (new MS MVP for Excel who attended Redmond's event this year) just emailed me a couple of minutes ago and said that Ken Wright said to say hello. I thought that was the coolest! So, figuring it'll be easier to just post something where he'll see it here rather than going through the gazillion email addies I have in my Outlook to find him.

So, I come here today, to the MS Office forum, and click on Ken's name in the Forum MVPs list. I click on his lists of post and pick this one.

Talk about shock and awe, ladies and gentlemen, you have just made me feel soooo great. I cannot tell you how much all your kind words mean to me. It's no wonder I'm doing so great! Oh, yeah! That!

I was supposed to get chemotherapy. I came so close that they even put the stupid port catheter in 'cause I have terrible veins (I'd have made a terrible IV drug user!). Well, about 3 weeks ago, I went to see the doc. Lo and behold...due to a hormone called Tamoxifen, I am now producing 60% less cancer cells than I was in December. And that's saying something huge, apparently. Back in October and November, I truly didn't know if I would be around by now. Today...I have no reason to believe I won't be around even 5 or 10 years from now, maybe even break you guys' chops 20 years from now, huh?

So, I don't care what the owners do anymore. I'm not gonna let them keep me away from my friends here at tek-tips. You are all so truly wonderful.

I'll be back in the Office forum, but don't expect me to come in this one. I keep trying to tell people I don't code!! Nobody believes me!

Anyway, you all deserve a [medal]

I love you guys.

~Anne Troy

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

That news is just soooooooooooooooo good, I am absolutely over the moon for you Anne. I was kinda freaking out when you appeared to have stopped logging in after 24th March, but just didn't want to ask anyone a horrible question, and had no idea who I would ask anyway. When I got to the summit and Juan told me he knew you, and that he had spoken to you in the last couple of days I was just so pleased, and just to clarify, I asked him to send you love and best wishes, and tell you we were thinking of you, so if he just said say hello, I shall chastise him greatly in the newsgroups ( Only kidding Juan :) and thanks ).

You just made my day/week/month :)

Lots of Love and the very very best of wishes

Ken.........

Hi Anne,

That is absolutely excellent news!! I do hope your recovery continues. If you've got this far without chemotherapy the signs must be good.

Your health quite obviously comes first but I, and many others, will welcome your return; your pleasant and helpful attitude, and your knowledge and expertise, are an enormous asset to this site.

I wish you the very best for a Happy Easter this year and for many years to come.

Still thinking of you ..

Enjoy,
Tony

And a HUGE sigh of relief from this one. I made a large donation on your behalf Anne - even though I don't know you. I have had 11 women friends go through what you did. Seven did not make it. My wife for one. I have a, hmmm, particular, OK I'll admit it, pathological hatred for breast cancer. As well as a major joyous song for those who make it. Keep on giving us your wisdom and sensitivity here. I for one missed you.

If it is of any interest, the following is a link to a painting I did just before my wife was first diagnosed. I think knew something was happening....

The painting is in the Geometrics section and is titled Embryonic Orbit.

Sorry, this is a not a bummer, but a joy. GLAD YOU ARE Back Anne!!

Dreamboat,
That is fantastic news!!!

I've referred to your examples and website many times when I've been teaching various Office classes and have found them to be very useful. I will have to check out your book and add it to my collection. :)

It's good to hear that you'll be around to bust our chops for many years to come.;-)

Regards,
Michael
