Can anyone help with describing how to draw a shooting star with the 'trail' of the star arching towards the ground? This cannot seem to be done using the 3D functions of Illustrator CS2.
use the pen tool, (which looks like the pen) and click on a spot on the page and slick on another spot, and make a shape, turn your mouse to get the desired shape or curve, and keep going intill you have made a basic outline of a shooting star
Or, if you have a shape you already like, simply rotate the shape into the desired oreintation before you start the 3D work. You could also make a shape by using the Star tool (in the tool pallette under the rectangle tool), and making some curves with either the Pen tool or the Arc tool, or whatever you like, and then combine the shapes using the pathfinder pallette.
davidgym - I'm trying to picture what you're going for? Is it a cartoon-type fived-sided star with a flaming tail or is it a more realistic globular, streak of light in the sky kind of shooting star?
I had scanned in a hand drawn sketch of the effect I was after but can't seem to attach the image to show those on this forum exactly what I mean. I suppose it is a cartoon like effect but one that could also translate into a graphic element/symbolic vector diagram.
davidgym - For the life of me, I can't figure out how to insert an image. Or a link for that matter. The path below looks like an awesome tutorial for a shooting star. It's a photoshop tutorial but I read through it quickly and it seems like you can perform the same operations in illustrator to get your desired results.
