Drag & Drop is gone within PowerPlayWeb after IE Update

Dear all,

after updating the Internet Explorer, the drag and drop functionality within a cube in PowerPlayWeb is gone. It doesn't work anymore. I am not sure which IE patch made this happen.

Somebody out there who knows a solution?

We use PP 7.1

There's an update to 7.1 from Cognos (you can ftp it) to get around this Microsoft "update" - see thread401-936242 for a discussion.

I'm not sure there's a document on the knowledgebase.
Here's part of the text of an email I had from support:

There is an update that has been provided to fix the drag and drop issue after installing the latest Microsoft security update.

Here is the information about the security patch and where you can go to get the latest MR patch to resolve this issue:

Applying MS security patch (MS04-038:KB834707), Drag and Drop operation no longer works with Enhanced mode. Customers are requested by Microsoft to apply this patch as an Emergency patch.

This loss in functionality is only applicable to PPES 7.1 and does not occur in PPES 7.3. This issue has been logged as code problem 454811: Enhanced mode does not work after IE security patch is installed - drag drop of category names.

Install build 7.1.809 of PPES to restore lost drag & drop functionality. Installing this new build does not alter, nor compromise the applied MS patch.

Depending on platform, retrieve the appropriate file:

AIX: ppes_aix_7.1.809.0-0.tar
Solaris: ppes_solaris_7.1.809.0-0.tar
Windows: ppes_win_7.1.809.0-0.zip

Drag the appropriate file from the browser window onto your desktop and proceed with the [Unzip &] install.

- Currently only English builds are available.
- HPUX English will be available by morning of Oct 21st [Thursday].
- Japanese, French & German builds will follow in the coming days. [Japanese build expected Friday, others to follow.] Non-English builds will include the language in the appropriate download file name. No other notice will be issued, visit the link daily to locate your localized build.

Please ensure you have backups of all your cubes, reports and Upfront entries before doing this. This can be done easily with Deployment Manager.

You need to ask your reseller to get the ftp address from Cognos for the relevant (OS) version you require.

I misunderstood, that there is a doc in the knowledge base concerning this problem. ;)

You'd certainly have thought so, given the importance of the problem, but perhaps they're too busy with 7.3MR1....

Don't forget to back up first!

Back-up and check the Temporary UDA folder after each server reboot.
This fix results in the Temporary UDA folder being reset to the default one after each reboot. This might cause unexpected behaviour if that default Temporary UDA folder is on a drive with little diskspace. We had some cube builds failing.
