For some reason I can no longer use ANY drag and drop functions in Explorer.

I can select file(s), I can drag them and they show as icon objects, I can drag them over folders and each folder is highlighted properly as I pass over.

Dropping does absolutely nothing.

I can not drag anything from Explorer and drop on the desktop. They appear to move, but dropping does absolutely nothing.

The only copy/move method that works is using the Copy To, Move To buttons I have on the toolbar, which opens a dialog. I have to work through the dialog to do any file copy/move operations. This is a pain in the butt.

This particular machine:

2.8 GHz P4, 1 Gb RAM, Win2000 Pro with SP4

It is NOT connected to the Internet, or any other network. It is totally stand-alone. However, files have been put on it using a USB stick, from other computers. I have checked for viruses, but nothing has been found.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Can you still Right-Click-Drag-and-Drop?

Just drag and drop, but with the right button instead of the left?
