Downloads and Checksum

I've tried several tried to download patches from sco.com(oss706c). When checking with "sum -r" it displays a different 1st set of numbers than those on the site;the second set is the same. Needless to say, installation of this patch fails. Can anyone tell me what is wrong, is the problem with the download?

Are you sure you download in BINARY ?

I've used mozilla on the unix server and Explorer 7 on my pc with same results. Should I try to connect to the ftp site using ftp to ensure a binary download?
