Hi

when i use DAP or GetRight to download any file from the web , the Transfer rate is from 20 to 24 KB/sec but when i use the right click button / save target as for the same file the download rate become 7 up to 10 KB/sec max. too close as if i use dial up connection ( 4.5 to 5 KB/sec )

i am new with the ADSL service. do i have to set something in the o/s or the browser as i made changes in DAP configration ( from dial up connection to dsl 256 )

and i have the same problem with kazza the maximum download speed is 8 KB/sec .

is there a reason for that ? i thought that when i use ADSL all downloads rate will jump from 5 to 25 KB/sec .

thanks

You should be geting around 40k downloads, I like speakeasy.net to check speeds. If downloading from a busy server your speeds will be reduced. When you use Kazza you are limited by the upload speed of the person you are downloading from. If you are runing a older OS like 98Se or ME you need to tweek you network go to DSL reports or I use to use a program call Cablenut.

I would very much warn against using download accelerators. They simply open multiple connections to try and increase the download that way, and some servers will detect them simply as a DoS attack and block/ban you. The "faster download" comes at a way of cheating the system essentially, and nowadays they're just bandwidth hogs (getting a file in 3 minutes compared to 5 minutes really isn't worth the accelerator, is it?).

As allteltec stated, it's tough to narrow anything down without more specifics. With Kazaa, are you going through a firewall? If so, are the appropriate ports open? Also, can you prove that the sources you're using should be giving you higher speeds, etc? So many things can have an effect, and there are so many variables...
