download options help

I have made a silly mistake. you know when you download something from the net you are given the option to determine where the file etc. goes to? well i unchecked that box which says "always ask for this type of file" or something. Now the problem is how do i recheck the box so that i can download files to my desktop not to the temp internet files folder?

I followed he first thread yo gave me but i can't find the folder options it is talking about! Bit of a silly mistake to uncheck that box i think! Idle hands do the devils work!

Open your registry

Run - regedit

Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Here you find a key named "NotifyDownloadComplete"
I suspect this has the value no
Change it to yes

That was download finish.

If i read correctly you don't get a save to location
when you click a download link.

I will check it out once more.

cheers. I tried what you said but value was yes. However there was a key "use formsuggest" which had a value no. Is that it maybe?

Easy way:
Start My computer
Click on
-tools
-Folder Options
-File types

Scroll down to you find the extension for that file type
that don't work for your downloads .
E.g ZIP .
-Highlight it.
Click
-Advanced


Place a checkmark on "Confirm Open after Download"

Do this for each filetype that you have trouble with.
