download only new messages via POP, not read messages

Our overseas employees use POP mail, I have a user who has been using OWA, but now has setup his Outlook 2000 for POP mail. But when he connects to the server he has 500 messages to download and it is taking forever (he is on a LAN). He wants to know is there anyway just to download only new messages and keep his current read messages on the server.

Any suggestions?

When I worked for an ISP, we had that question many times. With POP3, there is no way to do what he requires. As long as those messages are on the server, they will be downloaded each time he logs on.
