We have a Cisco 2900 switch and we have a situation where we need to turn off (down) a particular port for a certain period of time. Thru a telnet session, is there a command to disable a port? If there is, what is the command to turn it back on? (no command?)

Thank you in advance.

Make sure this port is not the uplink port as you will lose your connection - just issue a shutdown command to the port and then a no shutdown command when you want to re-enable it. Do this from interface configuration

Daniel,

Thank you Mike and Daniel for your help. I tried exactly what you posted and it worked! Your help is greatly appreciated; thank you again.
