What is the best practice to downgrade exchange 2000 back to exchange 5.5? My company is going through a merger and the new company does not want to upgrade to exchange 2000. And would like to know the best way to approach the situation? We could continue to operate in mixed mode however public folders and outlook forms are the problem?

Since you are running Exchange 2000, you are obviously in a Win2K domain. Is the other company still on NT or are they running on Win2K with Exchange 5.5?

Depending on how many users you have, I would try to Exmerge them all out and re-import them to a new 5.5 box.

I run a W2K/Ex2K with AD within a company that is mostly NT 4.0 or Novell. So I am using scripts to update the email gateway and also to get my address book populated from the rest on the company.

Not totally sure if this is what you are getting at.

Yes the other company is Running All NT and all Exchange 5.5 boxes. We have about 700 users on Exchange 2000.
