I am planning to do firmware upgrades on my IPSI boards as these haven't been touched in years. While I know they should be done I'm concerned if any issues arise because of this. How do you downgrade an IPSI back to the original?

Upload the 'old' IPSI firmware the same as the new firmware. If you have to go pack use the same process to download the old firmware to the IPSIs. You will have to check the box at the bottom of the screen to 'Continue with download even if version is older than the version currently installed.'.

How do I find that old of a version of Firmware on AVAYA's site?

ouch.. how bad is it that out of 10 IPSI's that only 1 of them are running FW46. Everything else is older

The current IPSI firmware may already be on the server. Click on the 'Download IPSI Firmwre' button. It will list all of the firmware files that are on the server.

Is there any reason not to go with the newest? I'm going from 8730 (5.2) to the DL360's (6.0) this weekend.

Code:
GW TN Circuit Pack Latest Last
MM/TN Gateway / Media Module Hardware Firmware Update Date
----- ------------------------- --------- -------- -----------
TN2312 - IPSI TN2312AP TN2312BP All FW057 - 11/19/12

Go to linux on your cm5
ls -l /tftpboot/tn2312*

should have FW47

cm4 and earlier servers will have earlier FW

If you are upgrading to cm6 you should have the latest FW on all your packs,
media-modules, media-gateways, and phones.

I'm running older than FW47 on my current. Do they need to be upgraded in stages when they are that old or you can just go directly to the newest?

go directly to the FW you desire.

sorry to be a pest, but if I have an ESS and a PN where the IPSI's are connected back to my main site.. does the IPSI fw get done from the main site web interface or the ESS server interface?

Hi, if your IPSI is connected to the main site, <I.E. it's not in ESS mode>, you will need to update it from the main site...

Just FYI, when I've done that many IPSI's in the past, I'll upgrade half of them, wait a week to make sure there are no issues, then upgrade the other half. Just a thought.

I'm assuming I can try this on an IPSI at my ESS location where there are no users without blowing the main system up?

If I'm working on PN5 IPSI's.. I did the standby. I didn't do a busy/release. Does 'activate' cause the reset and the fw to take? I do see it with the new fw when I do a 'list conf all'. In this case 5b01 was the standby IPSI and I want to force the failover. Can you confirm the command syntax for that? set ipserver-interface 5b01 ??
