Dovecot + Winbind problems

Hope someone can help with this -

I have Samba/Winbind set up correctly to authenticate users via AD on server 2003 (R2) and also to create home directories on the fly for both file shares (served by Samba) and vi ssh through pam.

My problem is that i can't seem to get Dovecot imap/pop3 to authenticate in the same way, it just won't work. Can anybody assist or offer a working config? I've found a config on opensourcehowto.org but that doesnt seem to work either...

btw - all this is on RHEL4...

What's the error? Are you running a packet-filter? like iptables? Do you have pam setup correctly for those services? are the daemons really running and not complaining and dying on something?
