DOS Window--printing in Win2000?

I have one 16 bit DOS application that I must use constantly. Prior to Win2000, we could use "print screen" and print what was on the screen (!). Now the only way I have been able to accomplish this is to do "print screen", which puts it on the clipboard, then exit the application, open notepad, paste, and print. Very tedious.

Is there a way to capture the port, or something else, in Win2000? All the options I've seen so far apply to Windows NT. I need a way to print screen, because the application itself does not have a "print" function on certain pages.....and naturally these are the pages I need to print!

Try this.

In Windows 2000, Share your desired printer. Then open a command prompt and type:

net use lpt1 \\computername\printersharename

Hit enter. Point your DOS app to LPT1 and it should work.

Ah, I've found thread616-728204 where there is mention of PrintKey2000 (Lupo), and of Gadwin's PrintScreen, (free download from

http://www.gadwin.com).

This last gem is configurable to directly print to a printer, except it can't capture from a FullScreen DOS Window, but does handle a windows DOSbox nicely. If you set it to Client area, it gives only the text from that screen.

You should also be able to assign the LPT1 port in the "Capture Port" option of your printer settings. This allows you to print from legacy applications to USB or Network (TCP/IP and share) printers.
