I have version 2.01 of Procomm Plus.&nbsp;&nbsp; We use it because the new versions of Procomm Plus (Windows, etc.) do not work with the modems we have to connect to.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br>Does anybody have aspect scripts for 2.01 that capture a screen, then allow for extracting just a couple of lines from the screen capture?&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br>Any help is greatly appreciated. <br><br>

I NEED TO WORK WITH PROCOMM PLUS 2.04 FOR DOS AND I DON´T KNOW THE SCRIPT COMMANDS ALLOWED, IS THERE ANY PLACE ON THE WEB WHERE I CAN FIND A FILE WITH THE SCRIPT COMMANDS FOR PROCOMM PLUS. THANKS. (ANEIMANIS@HOTMAIL.COM)

Is it still true that you need to run pcinstal to install procomm plus version 2.01. The reason I am asking is I currently work for a company that had no install disks and I need to make a backup to a manufacturing system that uses Procomm to configure our product.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Recently I found a place to download ProComm 2.01 for Dos. This site has the details for installing it under Linux (the purpose of the site) but there is a readme file in the zip download giving installation directions. Hope this helps people looking for back up installation disks.

According to the DOS ASPECT manual I happen to have laying around still, snapshot will capture the current screen to pcplus.scr. You can use the set snapshot command to set the name of the snapshot file.

To read the text in the snapshot file, you would use the fopen command to open the file, then the fgets command to read a line of text at a time. You could then use the find command to search for specific text in the string that was just read. You would then need to loop through the file (while end of file was not detected), reading a line at a time and checking the contents of that string.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need more information.

I'm not aware of any site that has the ASPECT commands (for either DOS or Windows) listed, but you should be able to buy a DOS version of Procomm on eBay or a similar site for less than $10. Just make sure that the ASPECT manual comes with the package - you should receive two separate manuals if the package is complete.

For those people who aren't aware, there are a few patches to the DOS version that are worth grabbing (Symantec doesn't exactly advertise these very well). You can't find these updates on their website, only via their FTP site at ftp.symantec.com in the directory /public/english_us_canada/products/procomm/ver2x_dos/updates. The contents of that directory are:

d2umodem.exe Procomm Plus 2.01US for DOS MODEMS.DAT Update
d2up0001.exe This archive fixes problems on Pentium 200 Mhz
d2up0002.exe Fix for ZMODEM problems with large disk space.
dp201.exe PROCOMM PLUS 2.x patch files / modifications
fulldo.exe Script for Procomm Plus that will disable the program's special keys, and send your key sequences to the host. See Knowledge Base article 1998120111658226
pcinst.exe This file updates Procomm Plus for DOS 2.00 to version 2.01.

This direcory is unfortunately missing the large-model ASPECT compiler that must be used if your DOS script gets over a certain size. I think I tucked a copy of this away before the Quarterdeck site went away though if anyone needs it.

have windows ver of procomm need to log in and use del key to return to last request please help!

What terminal emulation are you using? The Del key probably isn't mapped correctly, so it isn't sending the escape sequence that the remote computer is expecting.

Did the instructions you received say that you need to press the Delete key on your PC, or the equivalent of a Delete key for a VT100 terminal? It looks like the Del key in Procomm is mapped to send decimal 127 (hex 7F). My hunch is that you need to send what a real VT100 terminal sends when its Del key is pressed. Unfortunately, I do not have the documentation handy with me. You might try enquiring with the admin of the remote machine what they are expecting to receive when the Del key is pressed. With that information, we can remap the Del key in Procomm to send the expected string.

You might try pressing Ctrl and the Del key on your keypad. This sends a different escape sequence than using just the regular Del key does.
