DOS SOFTWARE WORKS XP HOME, NO GO WIN 2000

Can anyone suggest to me why my DOS based software works fine on XP Home but will not work on my Windows 2000 Professional Machine??? When I start up the software the display on my screen is garbled and not readable.

graphics card/driver?

does it need any special settings?

I have no idea how to adjust or change settings for graphics card driver.

I am able to get it to work in a dos window but cannot get full screen display without being garbled. How do I mess with the graphics card??
