When opening a command box I received the following error, An Extended Memory Manager is already installed. XMS driver not installed. How can I eliminate this error message. Any help greatly appreciated

Check your autoexec.nt and config.nt in the c:\windows\system32 directory (make sure you make a backup). Sometimes they limit what you can do in a dos app, and in your case, they may be running something that you do not want.

Also check your c:\autoexec.bat and c:\config.sys files, programs can still put stuff in them, but they're usually empty on WinXP.

Berton,

XP ignores autoexec.bat & config.sys even if they do have entries.

I'm having the same problem as mac123
And couldn't resolve the problem
any other suggestions
